Then it came about as they were going along & talking, that behold, there appeared a chariot of fire & horses of fire which separated the two of them, & Elijah went up by a whirlwind to heaven. 2 Kings 2:11 |

| THE LIFE THAT MATTERS by Jim Taylor Pastor of The Pointe Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi I guess as I was dreaming, I was also hoping that having this land and one day having a building would not change our church and who we are. We should never be defined by a building we worship in or land that we own, but we should always be identified as who we are as the people of God. It is always interesting the things people say about our church who have never been to worship with us before. There are a lot of misconceptions and also a lot of people who know nothing about us at all. Yet for good or bad, we will be defined one day because of the building we build and the land we own. Its just a fact of life. Thankfully though that will always be secondary to the fact that we will be defined by you, and how you live your lives. I wonder though, once word gets out and as more people hear about The Pointe, what will be said of us? How will people perceive our church? Some of the things I have heard is that we aren't really a church because of how we dress, or we can't really call what happens Sunday mornings worship because of the way we play our music. I have even been accused of leading people astray with our non traditional ways. I am ok with all of that because I know in my heart we have never changed the message of The Gospel, maybe just the mode it is delivered. The church I see each week and the church I hope I will always see is one where people are loved for who they are. You can be yourself at The Pointe and not worry what will be said. You can be real in our church with all of your faults because the one group of people we will never let in are those that are perfect (we might tolerate those who think they are because it is just a matter of time until they discover otherwise). Finally, you can come to The Pointe knowing that you join a group of people who want to love God and are hungry for more of the life He has for us. It is exciting to see what God has created here. It is exciting to see how God is blessing us now and how he will bless us in the years to come. It is so exciting that it makes me never want to see who we are change. Thanks for dreaming with me for a minute, and also thanks for being you. Don't change a thing no matter how many blessings God showers upon us. Lets not ever let having a place to call home one day change who we are as a people because believe it or not, you are pointing people to Jesus everyday by the way you live your lives!
